Pick up time was full of drama today. My boy got in the car and immediately started crying. I didn’t know why, I couldn’t get an answer out of him. He was crying hysterically. Finally, after a few minutes of sobbing, he calms down and says “I didn’t qualify to run for student council, ahhhhhhh!!!” and the sobbing started again just louder and more dramatic. At that moment I knew I was in for a crazy ride today. Happy Monday to me!
He would stop and minutes later start crying again, saying that he just wanted the satisfaction of running for student council in elementary school, forgetting that he had run in 3rd grade. All this drama is unfolding while my fourth grader is singing her math homework and tap dancing at the same time. Do you get the picture now? So I went ahead and reminded him that he had run before hoping it would help and he would shut up. But no, it made it worse and his cry got louder and he said “I just wanted to be student council!!!”, to what I replied, ” AND I WANTED TO BE THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND!” – with better hair of course. 🙂
Surprisingly, he stopped with a “what did she just say?” look on his face and went on to do his homework.
In conclusion, he didn’t qualify because he hasn’t been showing much responsibility lately so it was no one else’s fault but his.
Now, The Queen of England might like tea, but this queen is having MERLOT 🙂
